Abstract

Childbirth is a physiological process often accompanied by anxiety, stress, and intense pain. One non-pharmacological method to help accelerate labor is nipple stimulation, which promotes the release of oxytocin, thereby increasing the strength and frequency of uterine contractions. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of nipple stimulation, performed with the husband’s support, in accelerating labor during the first active phase. A case study with a Continuity of Care (COC) approach was conducted on Mrs. P, 30 years old, G3P2AB0AH2, at PMB Widawati Rahayu over three months. Data were collected through observation, interviews, physical examinations, and documentation review. During the intervention, labor contractions ranged from 3×/10/35 to 4×/10/45, showing a progressive increase. The mother’s vital signs, contraction strength, and frequency remained within normal limits. Nipple stimulation, combined with the husband’s emotional support, effectively accelerated labor progression in the first active phase. Nipple stimulation is a safe, effective, and non-pharmacological technique to enhance labor contractions and support timely delivery.
